This modernist house on Lake of the Isles, originally designed by Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle, was well-laid out, but it was in need of updating and refinement.  The new kitchen has been opened to the lake beyond and more efficiently organized.  It connects through the updated dining room and living room to a new intimate garden in front, designed with the owners (who are avid gardeners), as a buffer to the public grounds along the parkway.  The front entry, powder room, and mudroom have been re-envisioned.  Upstairs the owners’ suite was also updated, with a middle bedroom requisitioned for an adjacent walk-in-closet and master bath.  All interior finishes are light, clean, and crisp, supporting the changing lifestyle of owners who downsized from a larger home.
