This woodland house overlooking Wapogasset Lake had served as the family get-away cabin for many years.  But with two tiny bedrooms and no real kitchen, the owners found it a struggle to invite friends out to stay, let alone enjoy their leisure time with their growing sons.  The second floor addition provides two generous bedrooms, along with a much-needed second bathroom and good storage, plus a sleeping loft overlooking the newly-vaulted living room.  The arrays of skylights permit views up into the canopy of trees and provide glimpses of stars after dark.  The vertical wall of windows in the living room mimic the trunks of tall trees just outside.  Downstairs, an efficient kitchen occupies the previous south bedroom, creating space for dining overlooking the lake.  The projecting second floor west bedroom provides rain protection for the front door and its small terrace.
